Pumps in Light Industrial

Process transfer, pressure boosting and utilities.

Light-industrial sites run a broad mix of clean-liquid duties — cooling, washdown, boosting, and process transfer. Most are centrifugal territory, with progressive cavity reserved for viscous or metered products.

Pump types

Which pump does what

Vertical multistage

Pressure boosting & RO feed

Compact high-head pumps for building/process boosting sets, filtration and reverse-osmosis feed — efficient and easily packaged with VFD control.

End-suction centrifugal

Cooling, washdown & transfer

The general-purpose workhorse for clean-water circulation, cooling towers, washdown and light process transfer.

Progressive cavity

Viscous & dosing duties

For oils, adhesives, syrups and additive metering where flow must stay constant and shear must stay low.

Hygienic PC / centrifugal

Food, beverage & pharma

316L, EHEDG/3-A hygienic pumps that handle CIP for food, beverage, cosmetic and pharmaceutical products.

Key considerations

What to get right in light industrial

  • Most clean-liquid duties are centrifugal — keep the operating point near BEP for efficiency and long life.
  • Match materials and elastomers to the fluid: bronze/316 for aggressive water, FKM for solvents and fuels.
  • Use VFDs on boosting and variable-demand duties to save energy and avoid throttling losses.
  • Reach for progressive cavity when viscosity, shear-sensitivity or accurate metering rule out a centrifugal.
  • Hygienic duties need cleanable (CIP) designs, self-draining layouts and food-grade elastomers.
