High-head vertical multistage or horizontal multistage pumps lift clarified water out of deep workings and pressurise service-water rings.

Progressive cavity

Key considerations

What to get right in mining

  • Abrasion is the enemy: run pumps slower, choose hardened/rubber-lined wetted parts, and plan for wear-part replacement.
  • For slurry, positive-displacement PC pumps run slower and last longer on high-solids paste; centrifugals suit lower-solids, higher-flow slurry with liners.
  • High head dewatering needs multistage pumps and careful NPSH — long suction lifts and warm water erode the margin.
  • Solids concentration and particle size (d50, top size) drive the whole selection — measure them before sizing.
  • Remote sites reward rugged, easily-serviced designs (maintain-in-place PC, replaceable liners) to cut downtime.
